Statement of Educational Effectiveness
Degree Program Assessment
North Park Theological Seminary strives for continuous improvement in all programs. Each degree program has identified student learning outcomes (SLOs), which are assessed biennially using direct and indirect measures, including (but not limited to) juried reviews of student papers and other assignments, Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) group profiles, student Mid-Program Reviews, and graduating student questionnaires. These are the primary means for measuring strengths and weaknesses of programs, and for creating data-driven action plans to respond to those findings. A summary report of assessment for each applicable program is compiled at the conclusion of the process. NPTS faculty, the Dean of Faculty, the Academic Cabinet, and assessment staff all participate in the assessment process. For more information regarding the assessment process or the findings for a specific program, please contact the Dean of Faculty.
Additionally, North Park keeps records of two common indicators of educational effectiveness in higher education: degree completion rates and the job placement of graduates six months from completion. (DMin programs are not included in placement statistics as students are required to be in ministry positions as part of admission.)
Graduation rates are based on enrollment data from six years prior for MDiv and DMin degrees and four years prior for professional and academic MA programs.

The following is a breakdown by degree program of the three-year average of the percentage of graduated students who found placement since 2017/2018. North Park does not have a mandatory placement program that students must go through, though the school does provide opportunities to connect students to placement opportunities through the Evangelical Covenant Church. DMin students are not recorded in placement data because they are required upon admission to hold a ministry position.
